First World Flight Centennial – Takeoff

Apr 4, 2024

Leaving from Sand Point Field in Seattle (now the site of NOAA and Magnuson Park), eight Army Air Service fliers in four Douglas Cruiser Airplanes embarked on a harrowing journey around the world. 175 days and 26,345 miles later, the Fliers touched back down at Sand Point. 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the first world flight and Friends of Magnuson Park is ready to commemorate this historic event.
