About this program

Deep Cuts is all about lesser known, overlooked, rare, unreleased and just plain weird songs. The show focuses mainly on Indie Rock and Electronic genres including Math Rock, Surf Rock, Post-rock, Chillwave, Synth Pop and Ambient. Some other genres are featured, and some episodes center entirely around a certain genre like Country or Hip-Hop.

About the DJ

I am DJ Rio! I have been a DJ at SPACE 101.1 since October 2023. I love being able to share all the music I have found over the years and continue to discover. SPACE is the first station I have DJ’d at and my first involvement in radio. I write and perform music around the Seattle area as Rio the Bear. I also enjoy mixing music for people whenever I can. Besides music, I am interested in reading, and I have three dogs: Chuka, Mel and Poncho and a cat named George. I also work as a barista, which is how I first heard about SPACE!
